Welcome to Long Meadow Farm, home to some of Delaware's first Alpacas! Our alpaca herd got its start in January 2000 with the purchase of 2 female huacaya alpacas. Since then our herd has grown to almost 40 animals with a mix of both huacaya and suri alpacas. We now breed, board, sell and show a wide variety of alpacas.
In the last couple of years we have been asked to agist animals for other owners for a variety of reasons. Over the last few months, twelve agisted animals have joined our herd. Our animals love the added security they feel in a larger herd and we love having them here as well. These animals enjoy the same hands on care our own animals receive. In fact, some of our farm favorites are animals that are boarding here! Getting to know each animal's unique personality is one of the best parts of alpaca stewardship. We are always sad to see animals we have grown to love leave the farm, but the joy of their new owners helps. We strive to make sure new breeders have all the information possible to give them a happy, safe, and healthy new home. The health of the animals on and off of our farm is our first concern. To that end, we strive to educate new owners in all aspects of alpaca care and husbandry from deworming, trimming nails, shearing, breeding, birthing and anything else that comes up. No question is too basic and most of them were asked by us at one time. To help new breeders get started, we offer up to six months of free board and 2 free breedings to your choice of our great herdsires for each female purchased from our farm. So next time you're heading to the beach or interested in seeing one of Delaware's hidden treasures, give us a call. We love to show off our alpacas. We know you'll love them as much as we do!
